So, I call into a local Radio Talk Show the other day...
I introduce myself and say my website address. The Host immediately takes over the conversation and gets me off in less than 3 min and I hardly got a word in edgewise. The Joe Anybodies that he lets on his show get to talk as long as they want, until it gets boring. Sure, I know that it looks like a shameless plug when you start off by saying your website or your company, but everything that I was going to state on his show is from my website and inspired, totally, by my desire to serve the people of Texas.
I went to New Orleans to help rebuild after Katrina and Rita. I became a regular at a club owned by Harry Anderson, the actor best known for his work on the TV Series "Night Court" and his HBO Comedy Specials. One day, I'm on the phone with my daughter and she's going through that teen-age angst thing. I thought it would cheer her up to hear him say hello, you know, a voice from someone you can connect to because you've actually watched and liked them on TV. Harry took it the wrong way and thought that I was doing it to brag or show off that I knew a celebrity. A few minutes later, he came over and explained why he didn't like doing things like that, which I understood and would have had no problem with, had I been doing it for those reasons.
This is what I told him; "Harry, you're not a Celebrity, I'm a Celebrity. I'm a Titty Bar DJ. Do you know how many men have come up to me and said how much they wished they were me? Do you know how many guys wished they could trade jobs with me? Do you know how many men have asked how I got my job and how they could get them one too? No Harry, you're not a celebrity, you're an ex-actor/ magician/ club owner, I'm not just a Celebrity...I'm a God"
Harry found this amusing, but it is not just an anecdote. Many times I have made this statement, because it is so true - Club DJ's, especially Cabaret DJ's, are gods, because people expect them to be. We are expected to be perfect, even if we have equipment failure or Dancer problems, know every musician and/or band of every song and actually HAVE it on hand, know from just looking at you what music you like and want to hear, and bring a full-on party all the time, no matter what tragedy may have just destroyed our lives. Fall short on just one of these things, and you'll hear the whole club yell, "DJ Sucks!" Organizations that actually gather and disseminate Facts, are allowed to make more mistakes than us.
I have listened to these Radical Right Wing Radio Talk Show Hosts so much, that I can absolutely state this with impunity, "Yall are an arrogant, self-loving, self-aggrandizing bunch! And ain't a one of you with an original thought in your head."
I love this new, "I'm a Conservative, I'm not a Republican!" mantra they've all got going. Yet, every one of them disses the Democratic Party, touts the Republican way, is only friendly with Republican guests, and thinks it's ludicrous to start a third...or more, political party. "Conservative" has come to mean, Republican - without the bad press. I noticed this didn't come about until Republicans started getting demonized in American Politics.
I am basically a Conservative, but I am totally independent. I don't think we should allow ANY Political Parties, after all, aren't our Politicians merely Servants to the people in their districts? How does loyalty to an organization increase your loyalty, or service, to your constituents? If history is any indication, that just never happens! But, if we are to allow political parties, then lets make as many as possible, as many as The People want. Then the Parties would have to work together for real, or nothing would ever get passed, which might just be the answer to all of our problems anyway.
These RRWRTS Hosts have gotten so ridiculous, that I now have pet names for them: Douche Limpbag, So Whinnity, Major Stupid and the Stupid Nation, Dennis Sillier, and Houston's own, This Faker. I don't listen to Mark Levin enough to comment on him, Glen Beck is a Carnival Freak Show, and O'Reilly is like the Right's version of Larry King. BTW, I don't diss the Liberal Talk Show Hosts because I'm not trying to protect Liberal Values and they do an excellent job of dissin' themselves, by just opening their mouths.
My best friend and I have had several conversations about these guys. It took awhile for him to see it, but now he understands that they are just propagandists that work for the Right. They are no different than the Left Wing Liberal Media, it's the same crap, different direction. If you want truth, read my website, if you want rhetoric and opinion presented as truth, listen to ANY broadcast Editorial (Talk) Show.
Maybe the next time I call into that local Radio Talk Show, I can actually get to say my peace. I doubt it, I doubt I'll even call in again. You never know, but I'm the kind of person that doesn't like Hosts that treat people differently based upon whether they like or agree with them or not. If you are opening yourself up like you're a Public Forum, then be a Public Forum!
So this is me, looking down upon you mortals from a DJ booth on high, and saying...yall have a good day now! |
