Nuclear Solutions?
Now I find myself in the incredible position of having to defend Obama...WHAT?

First, I have to ask, how can you put the words "Nuclear" and "Solution" in the same sentence? That makes as much sense as saying "Civilized War" or "Acceptable Health Risk".

There is an axiom of life I find myself having to remind everyone from time to time, "No one is always right and no one is always wrong". If the Democrats lied every time they presented a position, no one would ever listen to them. Conversely, if the Republicans were always right, no one would ever listen to anyone else.

Truth is a strange animal, so many are willing to accept partial-truth, half-truth, or somewhat-true as truth, but as we were taught in school, if one word of a "True or False" question is false, the whole statement is false. The beauty of truth, is that it has to be 100% true or it isn't the truth.

And this is an absolute truth - There is no sane reason for a Nuclear Weapon. Chemical and Biological Weapons are ridiculous as well, but only a suicidal maniac wants a "Nuclear Option".

So Obama says we won't use Nuclear Weapons on countries that don't have Nuclear Weapons...and the problem is? Warfare has changed, the enemy does not have a "Homeland" or any real central location that would warrant the massive destruction of a Nuclear Bomb. There are only 3 countries left that would even be able to engage in the "World War" style of battle that a Nuclear Weapon needs to be effective, Russia, China, and the US. For any other country or faction it would be radical overkill to use Nukes.

Another truth - There is no justification for arbitrary Civilian Casualties. Unfortunately, there will always be civilians killed in any armed conflict that takes place where people live, another excellent reason to end war. But to sacrifice civilians just to insure the destruction of the enemy is a horrendous abuse and is, rightly so, against all International Rules of Engagement and also a prosecutable War Crime. In today's environment, a Nuclear Weapon insures massive civilian casualties to kill only a few of the enemy, not a very efficient or reasonable option. The most ludicrous effect, however, is that the Fallout will actually reach every corner of the earth to some extent, which insures the poisoning of all the people, including your own.

Well, imagine my surprise when I hear both So Whine-ity (Sean Hannity) and Major Stupid (Michael Savage) ranting how dangerous a policy it was for Obama, verbally mind you, to restrict our use of Nuclear Weapons. You would almost think this was the first time in US history that the idea was proposed. I don't know what presidents Stupid is a fan of, but Whine-ity is an avowed "Reagan Conservative", wouldn't that mean he was for reducing the risk of Nuclear Arms usage?

Here is the history of Treaties for the limitation of Weapons of Mass Destruction:

   1968 - Non-Proliferation Treaty

   1972 - Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty & Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty (SALT I & ABM)

1979 - SALT II [Not Ratified, but was still followed by Russia and the US]

   1988 - Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty

   1991 - START I

   1993 - START II

   1993 - Chemical Weapons Convention

1996 - Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty

2002 - Strategic Offensive Reduction Treaty (SORT) [also known as the Moscow Treaty]

Reagan signed the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty and in 1982 initiated the START Treaty process. Its a good thing Whine-ity was too young during the Cold War to bash Reagan for his "dangerous policies that threaten the safety of America", what a hypocrite.

So, I'm going to have to go with Obama on this one, anything we can do to down-play the use of Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Weapons, we should do it. The US is just being a responsible World Leader by saying that restraint is the best course of action when considering the use of Weapons of Mass Destruction, aren't we supposed to set the example? Besides, another famous saying I have to remind people of, "You can always tell when a politician is lying, their lips are moving". Simply saying we won't use certain weapons is not a binding statement, because we all know, that the US will use everything in its arsenal when the need arises, and we have walked through more than one treaty in our past when it was advantageous.

Just remember, for all the talk about missing Uranium and Plutonium, the assumption of it being in the hands of Terrorists, and the fear of N. Korea and other "Radical" nations having Nuclear Weapons, the US is still the only force in the world that has ever used Nuclear Weapons in an attack and currently uses Radioactive Ammunition.  It seems like the only kids on the block not responsible enough to have Nuclear Weapons, is us.
